About Us
STRAY DOGS SMILES is a very new Non Profit making NGO established in Athens Greece this September 2014. Stray Dogs Smile is Registered as a non Profit making Organisation (reg. No: 294313 / 17- Sept. 2014). Myself and my German friend Anne, we have 3 Dogs and love walking in the forest nearby our house. The last 2 years, due the financial depression in Greece we observed an increasing number of abandoned Dogs. We have tried several times to collect and take care of dogs found and we had a lot of successful stories of stray dogs, recovering and given to adaption. We now realised that our amateur efforts are in vain and therefore we decided to half in two our Land we own in Athens and create a proper shelter for stray dogs. The field is full of old building material and needs firstly to be cleaned and afterwards to build a beautiful place for 7-10 dogs.
ANNE
Anne is the reason to begin everything. Anne is the heart and moving power behind any dog adaption and the idea of the shelter. Her love to animals is unquestionable. Without Anne nothing would have happened.
Anne came in Greece 2 years ago and loved walking in the nearby forest. Almost every time she was out walking a new stray animal (cat or dog or bird or turtle) was brought back home.
Anne realized soon enough that it is impossible to keep adding pets in the house, to the already existing and therefore she started looking for new families and new homes for the pets she was collecting and saving from the street.
At the beginning she engaged her family in Germany and soon enough her Sister becomes the proud owner of two cats (Luna & Smeagol). Later Anne expended her efforts and started looking for potential new “homes” to an increasing circle of friends.
Soon enough Anne was a regular visitor of the Athens’s International Airport, organizing various pets to fly to their new “owners”.
When Anne has a goal there is nothing that will stop her.
We hope Anne will stay for a long period of time with us organizing everything and taking care of our dogs.

Eleni
Long before we show our interest for the stray dogs of our Area, Eleni was (and still is) already behind every single stray dog in Varymbopy (the area where we leave). Eleni is one of the most passionate person I have met, when it comes to a dog.
Eleni has devoted her life in helping the stray dogs, she knows almost every stray dog in this area (if not literally all) and she covers daily hundreds of Kilometers feeding – watering and taking care of the stray dogs.
Eleni is of a great assistance to our project and without her help and support there is really very little we can do,
Spyros
Spyros is a computer engineer and he is one of yje 3 founding members of our organisation.
Half of the area we own and we wish to transform into a shelter belongs to him!
Andreas
Andreas has a 15 years experience in organising and supervising Volunteers and voluntary projects.
Andreas is the person to fix everything broken or build anything you ask him
